The Names of God

Yesterday during our morning family devotions I asked the kids, "How many persons does our one God exist in?" They answered correctly, "3". I then asked, "What are the names of these persons?" Micah's response: "Joe"
At that point Robin and I lost it and I think the morning learning was done.

Sickness abounds

Quotes from Hannah & Micah about their illnesses...

"Mom, I've been coughing a lot today. So you're probably gonna want to give me my medicine now before I go to bed." --Hannah

"Me pick me nose a lot because me nose is sick!" --Micah

Sorry it has been a while since our last post. We'll see if we can be a little better in the future! No promises!

I used to listen to my Dad!

or
Well, I guess you could say David got beat up today. He came inside from playing with his fun neighbor friend saying he had a big headache from being "tackled" to the ground! He was pretty shook up. About a minute later, however, he was out and ready to play more. Later, it came out that the reason David was tackled was because he was repeatedly shouting "Go Vikings!" (Yes, Jon is a Vikings fan.) I took this as an opportunity to teach the kids about watching our tongues around other people, because bothering others can cause fights...God says to try to be at peace with others (Heb. 12:14)...and so on. Later, I continued to see the wheels turning in David's head. "But, Dad cheers for the Vikings...." "Yes, David, we're unusual here in Illinois. Most people root for the Bears, but Dad likes the Vikings." "I think I want to root for the Bears!"

Going to The Choo Choo on the choo choo

For a few years now, Robin and I have wanted to take the kids to the choo choo. Well, we finally did it, today. With the help of Grandma Hunt, Thanks Grandma!, We all loaded up on the Metra Northwest line and headed to Des Plaines.

The ride was a lot of fun filled with many Cub fans headed to the game (World Series here we come!). When we got off the train we met up with Uncle Adam and Aunt Betsy. Then we got to the diner and a really nice waitress took our picture with the train that would deliver our food.

We had a great time getting yummy food, and letting the kids get pop. Micah loved the pop and I loved taking pictures of him drinking the pop.

It was a great, exhausting day (for some reason we were all ready to fall asleep after the trip) filled with many fun memories.

Family Trip

This past Saturday we had the opportunity to head out to Royal Oaks Apple Orchard. It was a beautiful day and we all had a blast playing, going on hay rides, going on a choo-choo, and of course, picking yummy apples. Here are some pictures of our day.

Family update

Well, this morning we found Moses floating belly up. So, we are back to just 6 of us. We won't be bringing minnows home from the beach anymore.

New family member!

Not what you think! :)
Please welcome Moses to the family!
David caught this guy while we were swimming at the beach on Labor day. The other one that came home died within an hour...RIP.

Funny Misunderstandings

This evening we were talking to David about school and some misunderstandings occurred.
First one:

David: I didn't like school today.
Jon: Why?
David: We had to do homework. I finished two pages but I still have eight more to go
Jon: What was the homework on.
David: Paper.

(He doesn't have 8 pages to do at home. It is more like school work so he will be doing more work at school. Didn't want anyone thinking our school is out of control with homework in first grade.)

Second one:
Robin was testing me in Spanish with the kids' help. We were asking what things around our family room are called in Spanish. At one point Robin asked...
Robin: David, what's "be quiet"?
David:
